Pongal
Ingredients
Rice 1cup
Moong dal 1/3cup
Crushed black pepper just a pinch
Seasoning
Whole black pepper 5nos
Ghee 3TBSP
Whole red chilli 1nos
Curry leaves 5nos
Asofoetida a pinch
Urad dal 1/4tsp
Jeera 1/4tsp
Mustard seeds 1/4tsp
Salt to taste
Method
Cook rice, dal and salt and crushed black pepper together in a pressure cooker(the water used for cooking should be double the quantity usually used).
Once it is done mix it well .
Heat ghee in a pan and add all the seasoning ingredients to it.
When the mustard seeds start to splatter add the seasoning to the rice and dal mixture . Mix well .
Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar.
